This painting captures the subtle interplay of light and shadow cast by old, broken bulbs from a modernized version of the Stardust sign. While the newer iteration was undeniably large and bright, it lacked the charm and beloved character of the original atomic font that dazzled the Strip. These letters were used for camper parking behind the hotel.
The atomic version had an iconic energy, full of the promise and excitement of mid-century Vegas, whereas the modern design couldn’t quite capture the same magic.
My friend Dan, with his playful sense of creativity, transformed these remnant letters from the Stardust camping sign into the word 'TRUST' at the original Boneyard—an ironic, yet fitting tribute to the ever-changing landscape of neon history.
